Peace is a precious commodity in 2020. We know that 2020 is a hard year for everyone everywhere. You can get pulled down into chaos by the pace of life – or you can create your own peace in your environment.
Keeping peace in your life when things are stressful will keep you healthy and happy. Check out these tips for 10 ways to find peace during high-stress times.
Find Peace During High-Stress Times
1. Positivity Brings Peace
Keeping a positive mindset helps your outlook and perspective. Positive thoughts affect all areas of life. Make a conscious choice to look at the positive in all things.
2. De-Stress
It is easier to feel peace in life if you are not stressed out all the time. Whatever self-care activities help you relax is key to finding peace during high-stress times. Invest the time in yourself and your life with stress-fighting techniques. Meditation, rest and just vegetate on the couch, being in nature, exercise, healthy diet, yoga, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and journaling are all great methods of stress release.
3. Rest Up
Make sure you are getting adequate sleep and have a healthy sleep schedule. Proper rest is vital during stressful times.
4. Change It Up
A change of scenery and routine is great for outlook and keeping peace in your life. Getting some new views and changing up the routine is great for de-stressing.
5. Remind Yourself To Be Thankful
Gratitude means having an appreciation for the good in life. A great way to have a sense of peace in life is to cultivate gratitude and thankfulness. It is also a great way to keep things in perspective in high-stress times.
6. Exercise
It’s 2020, so exercise can mean a lot of things depending on where you live. Go to the gym if that’s a safe option. If not take the “home workout” outside and go for a walk, a hike, or a run. Endorphins help bring a sense of peace and calm during stressful times.
7. Eat Clean
It’s as simple as it sounds. To help have a peaceful mindset eat plenty of healthy, whole, nutritious foods. Whole food is food in its natural state that has not been processed or made in a factory and typically is one ingredient or less. Avocado is a whole food. An apple is a whole food. A grilled chicken breast is a whole food. Eating clean means avoiding junk and boxed food and going back to nature for your nutritional needs. Whole foods notify the body, mind, and spirit. According to WebMD, key antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables help reduce inflammation which is linked to chronic stress.
8. Call A Friend
Share your experience and struggles with like-minded people. Share the good, the bad, successes, or failures. Commiseration reminds you that you are not alone when things are tough. As humans, we need to feel connected and not alone, in good times but especially in bad times.
9. Take A Break
Whether it’s a random adventure or a vacation day; take a break. Give yourself time to relax, process, and reset.
10. Do Your Favorite Activity
Do your favorite thing. Fitness, a hobby, or even have a favorite meal. Doing things you enjoy in life adds to your peace when things get stressful. Allow yourself a guilt-free day of doing you.
2020 has been a wild ride for many. Life in general can be tough. Try these tactics to keep the peace in your life. You find peace in life by creating your own. Once you find the best activities and practices that work to keep your peace, use them. Then use them again. Self-care and making choices that help keep you at their best are more vital than ever.
