When life gets hard it can be overwhelming. We know that 2020 is a hard year for everyone everywhere. Dealing with all the events of the year can bring up difficult feelings in life. Facing difficult feelings can be tough.

1. Good Vibes Only
Keep it positive when confronting challenging emotions. Staying positive means keeping the attitude that you are strong enough to face any feelings or emotions that you must in life. You are not weak. You are smart and capable. Positive thoughts affect all areas of life. Make a conscious choice to look at the positive in all things.
2. Self Care
Practicing self-care ensures that you are healthy and set up to deal with difficult feelings and emotions in life. Take time for healthy activities that enrich your body and soul.
3. Sleep On It
Make sure you are getting adequate sleep and have a healthy sleep schedule. Proper rest is vital for mental health. Being rested ensures you will be level headed when confronted with difficult feelings.
4. Take A Walk
A change of scenery and routine from time to time is great for well-being perspective. Getting some new views and changing up the routine is great for your mental health and physical health. Sometimes emotions may not seem so difficult in a different environment, or after getting out for a while.
5. Mindfulness
Put a name to the emotions you are feeling. Being mindful allows you to take a step back and observe what your thoughts and feelings are in a situation. Do not avoid the emotion just observe your feelings. Don’t judge the feelings either. Eventually, the strong emotions will pass.

Ask yourself if the feelings you are feeling are logical, rational, or real. Some situations are beyond your control and no matter what you do, you can’t change the outcome or situation. Focus on using your energy on aspects of life that you can affect.
7. Talk To A Pro
If difficult feelings are affecting your quality of life, or daily ability to get things done talk to your doctor or mental health professional. It’s better to reach out early when it may not even be needed instead of waiting until a bigger problem is present.
8. Sharing
Feelings need to be released, if not they fester inside of you and negatively effect your emotional and psychological health. Learning to talk about your feelings is a skill, some of us learn it in childhood, and some of us need to learn it in adulthood. When it comes to the processing of feelings, nothing is more important than expression.
9. Give Yourself A Break
Cut yourself some slack when dealing with difficult feelings. Take a walk through the park, breathe in fresh air, take a yoga class, read a good book. Go easy on yourself when life is hard.
10. Write It
Journaling is a great way to process and release feelings. This practice also helps you gain clarity about your inner self and all that is going on there.
Also, it is a good idea to limit alcohol intake. Emotional stability of any kind is not enhanced when drinking alcohol or caffeinated beverages. Make your job easier. Cut back on these substances when emotions run high.
